Visionary Sky
The Eagle Nebula (M16) is named this because it resembles an eagle in flight. It is one of the most famous nebulas in the sky because it contains a star-forming region known as the Pillars of Creation. This is a region of dust and gas where new stars and new solar systems are being formed.
This stunning star-forming region located within Serpens Cauda (the serpent’s tail). It is home to the famous Pillars of Creation, towering clouds of gas and dust where new stars are born. This image gave us the Greek myths of birth, transformation, and cosmic renewal; the myth of Asclepius, who sought the power to heal and even resurrect life.

The Eagle Nebula (M16) with ethereal gas and dust, was written about by the ancient Greeks it is the myth of Asclepius comes to life. The Greeks saw Asclepius as a symbol of rebirth, his healing power drawn from serpents and the dual nature of Medusa’s blood, which could both restore life (rebirth) and bring death. His defiance of mortality angered Hades, who persuaded Zeus to strike him down, yet he was immortalized among the stars as Ophiuchus—a lasting emblem of healing, transformation, and the cycles of life.
Looking into this painting one might feel inspired to release what does not serve them, and brace the powerful truth spoken by the universe. Where there is light exists birth, transformation and hope it is found in the darkness waiting to be revealed.
